Since launching nearly two months ago, the Share the Stimulus campaign has had over 2,000 pledges amounting to more than $1,000,000 donated to communities and people in need across America. Several of these pledges mentioned that they had shared their stimulus dollars to support the amazing work of the Denver Rescue Mission.
While the Denver Rescue Mission is always taking part in important work to serve and empower the homeless population in Denver, their efforts in the last several months, combined with the love and support from the community, have proven to be life-changing.
They’re continuing to provide meals, shelter, and support, while also taking the necessary precautions in the midst of the virus. They’ve even hired graduates from their New Life Program to temporarily help with the urgent needs brought on by the pandemic.
Steven Dukes recently lost his restaurant job due to COVID-19 closures and was soon hired by Denver Rescue Mission to help sanitize the facilities. He said, “I feel blessed in the midst of this. I feel like I have a hedge of protection. I could be homeless at any time by making a mistake, so I’m helping my people. They’re my people.”
