While COVID-19 has had a massively negative impact on the U.S. — our culture, our economy, and our society at large — developing countries have only a fraction of the resources we have, making the impact devastating.
Like with many crises and disasters, the most vulnerable are impacted the most — and unfortunately, the most vulnerable are usually children, especially children in developing countries.
Compassion International is a nonprofit based in Colorado Springs, CO, serving communities around the world through their sponsorship program. They provide a “holistic approach to child development” with a “careful blend physical, social, economic and spiritual care.”
Now, Compassion is facing a new challenge that arises when the reverberations of a pandemic reach people who already don’t have access to food, clean water, medical care, and so on.
Compassion’s COVID respond includes the following services, meeting the immediate needs of the communities they serve and love:
– Food and grocery vouchers for families who can no longer afford food.
– Access to medical care and coverage of the costs of treatment.
– Covering rent payments for families who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19
Because of the impact COVID-19 has had on the American economy, many children have lost their sponsors in the past several month. If you’re looking for a way to use your stimulus check to help others, consider providing for a family in poverty today through the work of Compassion International!
